As you may have noticed, your iPhone 12 has no home button.
That means the beloved home button is back. The new version of the SE is powered by the A13 Bionic chipset which is also used on the iPhone 11 series. Apple's previous SE sold for $349 before the tech company pulled it in 2019.
A year ago, when Apple introduced the iPhone X with a facial-recognition feature that unlocked the phone, it also unveiled the iPhone 8, with that familiar concave button that opened up the home screen. This year, for the first time in 11 years, the home button was absent from the festivities.
Apple started phasing out the home button in 2017, beginning with its premium iPhone X handset. It kept the physical home buttons on cheaper iPhones. But we all knew their time would come. That hammer dropped in 2018 and Apple cleared the home button from its new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then select AssistiveTouch to turn it off.

Go to the Settings menu. Scroll down to the Buttons option which is under the Personal heading. Toggle the Swap buttons option to swap the placement of the Recents and Back buttons.

If you are realy missing the Home button, note that it's possible to get the 12, 11- and X-series iPhones to display an onscreen Home button. This is activated via the Accessibility section of the Settings app: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch then turn on AssistiveTouch.
