Rin, knew the Mist's plan, hence she asked Kakashi to kill her. But, Kakashi hesitated as he not didn't want to kill his comrade and also not break the promise he had given to his dear friend Obito Uchiha. Kakashi doesn't hate boruto, he just hates the way he acts the way he thinks and because of Boruto's misunderstanding to what Shinobi are and his lack of experience of wars which makes boruto a scum.
Kakashi does not have a son. However,if you are talking about Houki Taketori, the guy who wears a mask in Boruto and resembles Kakashi, then he is not his son. He is actually his fan and wants to be like the Sixth Hokage aka Kakashi Hatake.
With this logic, Rin could realize that she loved Obito. However the afterlife scene after Obito died shows a lot. In my opinion, up until she died she had a crush on Kakashi and believed that she loved him truly. Then after she died and watched over Obito she realized that her heart in fact was with Obito.

Obito and Kakashi's relationship is a very complex love triangle. Obito is in love with Rin, Rin crushes on Kakashi, and supposedly, Kakashi loves Obito.
During the flashback some people have and or Kakashi, we find out that Namikaze Minato, Naruto's dad, was Kakashi's teacher, and that Kakashi had a big respect for him.
