The first Union Budget of Independent India was presented by RK Shanmukham Chetty on November 26, 1947. It was a review of the economy and no new taxes were proposed.
Depending on the feasibility of these estimates, Budgets are of three types -- balanced budget, surplus budget and deficit budget.
The Budget Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the finance ministry is the nodal body responsible for producing the Budget. How is the budget made?
India Budget generally deals with the central government's finances, its revenues and expenditures. The Union Budget presentation takes place once a year. However, in the year when Lok Sabha elections are due, two budgets are tabled in Parliament.
Based on conditions prevailing, a budget can be classified into 2 types;
