The 14th Doctor. So, it's been confirmed by the BBC that the 13th Doctor (/14, or even 15th, depending on your perspective), Jodie Whittaker, is staying for at least one more season in 2021.
Doctor Who's real name is Mildred, claims Steven Moffat | NME.
Whittaker appeared for the first time as the Thirteenth
Doctor at the end of the 2017 Christmas special, "Twice Upon a Time", and stars as the

Yes – there will be a Doctor Who season 13. Showrunner Chris Chibnall confirmed as much when speaking with members of the press during a trip to the Doctor Who set in Cardiff, where he said: 'We're already planning the next series after this series.
In the prologue, the Master (portrayed briefly by Gordon Tipple) is executed by the Daleks as a punishment for his "evil crimes". But before his apparent death, the Master requests his remains to be brought back to Gallifrey by the Seventh Doctor.
The reason was ret-conned as having been caused by the Master looking into the time vortex and being driven mad, but the original conception of the Master was a sort-of Moriarty to the Doctor's Holmes, which means he does what he does because he feels the Doctor is the only being on the same level as he is and
According to the Master, the Founding Fathers of Gallifrey built Time Lord society on a lie regarding the Timeless Child. This was buried deep within all Time Lords, in the form of repressed thoughts and memories: hidden, but integral to their identities.
Doctor Who's real name is Mildred, claims Steven Moffat. The real name of the Doctor in Doctor Who has been revealed as Mildred. Showrunner Steven Moffat made the claim in a jokey response to a fan's query in the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine.
Similarly, the Torchwood Declassified featurette from Torchwood series 2 has John Barrowman, David Tennant and Russell T Davies stating that they believe the Face of Boe is Jack Harkness. In-universe, however, we only have Captain Jack's testimony.
Being a Time Lord, The Master can't entirely die (at least not from a stab wound). She knew that by killing The Master, it would force his regeneration, leaving her as the only Master.
Doctor Who: How did Missy become Sacha Dhawan's Master? He implied that this would inhibit her ability to regenerate and Missy apparently died shortly afterwards, having finally found absolution.
"The End of Time" marked the last appearance of the Master until 2014, when the character was brought back as "Missy", with no explanation given at the time as to how they escaped Gallifrey or what prompted their regeneration.
The Weeping Angels are dead Time Lords
One scene in 2010's 'The End of Time - Part Two' has two Time Lords punished by being forced to stand stock still "as monuments to their shame" – like "the weeping angels of old."She is the sole survivor of the starship Alaska, which crashed on the Asylum, a prison planet for insane Daleks. Oswin then learns from the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) that she has been converted from human into a Dalek and has coped by retreating into a fantasy of her own intact survival.
Some time later, the Master is captured and "executed" by the Daleks before snaking his way into the form of Eric Roberts. In the new Doctor Who series, the mantle has passed from Derek Jacobi to John Simm, and then to Michelle Gomez, who took the title of Missy.
Theta Sigma was the Doctors nickname in Gallifreyan university according to the novels and may have been a shortened version of his name.
So it seems that the doctor is indead more intelligent than other time lords. The Master, The Rani, Drax and Romana have all outpaced The Doctor in academia on numerous occasions with The Doctor besting them through experience and tenacity. But in real life, the most prominent people are rarely the smartest.
But it seems the Master is such an egotist that he can't bear sharing the screen for long, even with him/herself. If the Master really has killed Missy – ie damaged her so much that he's prevented her from regenerating – then this could be the end of the line for the Time Lady, just when things were getting good.
And just like the Doctor, the Master has had several physical incarnations. And so, as he was dying — presumably regenerating into Missy — the Master killed their future self, permanently. The Master (John Simm) killing themselves, which, at the time, was Missy (Michelle Gomze.)
Furious, the Simm-Master – who'd been stabbed in the back by his successor, figuratively and literally – gave her “the full blast” from his laser screwdriver. He implied that this would inhibit her ability to regenerate and Missy apparently died shortly afterwards, having finally found absolution.
The Master escaped The Great Time War to the end of the universe (which requires a TARDIS) and rewrote his entire biology to become human using Chameleon Arch. When he became Time Lord again to remember everything, he took the TARDIS of The Doctor to make it a Paradox Machine.
He stole it from his own people and chose a new name, the Doctor, to signify his desire to help the universe and the people in it, instead of causing harm. He abandoned his old name because he didn't want to be associated with the society and people he'd lost respect for.
Disguised as O
In the closing minutes of the first part, O reveals himself as a new incarnation of The Master; having killed the real O on the way to his first day of work at MI6 and assumed his identity. With the Cybermen's firepower and the Time Lord gift of regeneration, the Master plans to enslave the universe. Two national treasures, Stephen Fry and Sir Lenny Henry CBE, will appear in Series 12 of Doctor Who, broadcasting in early 2020. TV icons Stephen Fry and Sir Lenny Henry CBE will both appear in the series opener when the TARDIS lands once more, with Jodie Whittaker reprising her role as the Thirteenth Doctor.
Being a Time Lord, The Master can't entirely die (at least not from a stab wound). Instead, will regenerate, like the Doctor. He's done that before, and the result was Missy. She knew that by killing The Master, it would force his regeneration, leaving her as the only Master.
Long-time fans of Doctor Who will recognise the actor playing O as Sacha Dhawan who played Waris Hussein in the one-off 2013 drama An Adventure in Space and Time which told the story of how Doctor Who first made it to our screens in 1963.
Share This Page. When Matt Smith's Time Lord regenerates during the upcoming Doctor Who Xmas episode, Peter Capaldi will become Doctor number Twelve. Or will he? As all Doctor Who fans know, the Doctor can—technically—only regenerate 12 times; something that Who showrunner Steven Moffat recently confirmed.
During their first adventure of series 12, The Doctor and co are introduced to a secret agent by the name of O, someone who's apparently been shunned by MI6 for their work monitoring extra-terrestrial life.
