Florida is divided into 27 congressional districts, each represented by a member of the United States House of Representatives. After the 2010 Census, the number of Florida's seats was increased from 25 to 27 due to the state's increase in population, and subsequent reapportionment in 2012.
Miami, Florida, U.S. Marco Antonio Rubio (born May 28, 1971) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Florida. A Republican, he previously served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Rubio was elected to the United States Senate in 2010.
Congressman Bill Posey represents Florida's 8th Congressional District which encompasses all of Brevard and Indian River Counties, and a small portion of Orange County (Bithlo, Christmas and Wedgefield). Posey, a Republican, was elected to U.S. House of Representatives in 2008 and is currently serving his fifth term.
Rubio supports balancing the federal budget, while prioritizing defense spending. He supports a balanced budget amendment as well as statutory caps on federal spending, and opposed President Obama's stimulus package of 2009. Rubio supports Social Security changes to prevent projected future deficits in the program.
