US citizens of Bangladeshi origin (by birth) and their children may apply for a Dual Nationality Certificate. On receipt, the Consulate General, after necessary processing, forwards the application with supporting documents to the Ministry of Home Affairs in Dhaka for subsequent action.
(1) Online MRP application has to be made from the following link www.passport.gov.bd or embassy website. (2) Documents required: Copy of the filled-in MRP application form (4 pages with bar-code) duly attested by approved attester or signed by the authorized officer of the Embassy.
You can download a “No Visa Required” application form from the Department of Immigration and Passports website. If you obtain a new passport, you will need to have your Bangladeshi visa or seal transferred to the new passport.
Average processing time at the Department of Immigration & Passport in Dhaka for express delivery and regular delivery of passports is 15 days and 30 days respectively. However, it may take 21-28 days for express delivery and 40-45 days for regular delivery of MRP depending upon the schedule of diplomatic bag.
Upon expiry of validity, a passport should be renewed by the applicant. It can be renewed up to 10 years from the date of its issuance. To renew a passport, the applicant must submit the following: Completed Application Form for Renewal of Passport.
