Bruce Springsteen, also known as "The Boss," began his career by playing the bar circuit in New Jersey while assembling his famous E Street Band.
Springsteen nailed his biggest hit and Cox jump-started her Hollywood career. Springsteen turned the 'Courteney Cox moment' into a concert staple by continuing to bring random fans up to dance with him on stage, during the song's performance.
Bruce Springsteen, of course, has been known to frequently throw a surprise cover or two into his setlists. But it's rare for him to cover another artist's song on one of his studio albums. Still, he has done so occasionally, and I decided to put together a post featuring the original versions of these songs.

As for the title of the song, Dancing in the Dark, it means living a dangerous, adventurous life as if tomorrow doesn't exit; it's like living on the edge.
Dietz may have simply coined this phrase to express the feeling one gets from dancing in the dark--presumably a very romantic experience, with shared intimacy in the privacy of the dark.
