Sleeping in Chennai Airport
Because passengers are not allowed into the departure areas less than three hours before their departing flight, most travellers choose to sleep on the landside. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels within a quick shuttle ride of the airport. While the existing domestic terminal can handle around 2,200 passengers per hour and has three gates, the better-equipped and more spacious new terminal can handle approximately 3,300 passengers per hour and has seven gates.
