You can change your display to a dark background with either Dark theme or Color inversion. Tap Accessibility. Under Display, turn on Dark theme or Color inversion. Dark theme applies to the Android system UI and apps running on your device.
To change your Start screen background:
- Hover the mouse in the lower-right corner to open the Charms bar, and then select the Settings charm. Selecting the Settings charm.

Where Can I Download Windows 8 or 8.1?
- Visit Microsoft's download Windows 8.1 disc image (ISO file) page.
- Pick the Windows 8.1 edition you want, and select Confirm.

This is the main interface that Windows 8 user's use to launch applications, search for files, and browse the web. This Start screen contain tiles that represent different programs that you can launch by clicking on the title.
Click the Start button and then click the Settings command. At the Settings window, click the setting for Personalization. At the Personalization window, click the option for Start. In the right pane of the screen, the setting for "Use Start full screen" will be turned on.
Just follow these steps:
- Visit the Home screen page on which you want to stick the app icon, or launcher.
- Touch the Apps icon to display the apps drawer.
- Long-press the app icon you want to add to the Home screen.
- Drag the app to the Home screen page, lifting your finger to place the app.
Hover the mouse pointer over the top right corner of the main screen, and then scroll up and click a charm. On a touch screen you can swipe from the right edge towards the left and the Charms menu will appear.
Alternatively referred to as the winkey or WK, the Windows key is a key found on IBM compatible keyboards used with the Microsoft Windows operating system. The Windows key has the Microsoft logo on it and is found between the left Ctrl and Alt keys on the keyboard.
To make changes to your Classic Shell Start menu:
- Open the Start menu by pressing Win or clicking the Start button.
- Click Programs, choose Classic Shell, and then select Start Menu Settings.
- Click the Start Menu Style tab and make your desired changes.
From the desktop, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars and select “New toolbar.” Click the “Select Folder” button and you'll get a Programs menu on your taskbar. Right-click the taskbar and uncheck “Lock the taskbar” if you want to move the new Programs menu around.

How to restore the classic Start menu in Windows 8 and 8.1. First, go to Desktop (keyboard shortcut Windows Key+D) and right-click or touch and hold on an empty space of Taskbar. Expand the Toolbars menu and click New toolbar.
