Both Skims and Spanx have a similar amount of body-sculpting spandex, 22 and 20 percent, respectively. While the difference isn't as visible in my dress, the Spanx supported my stomach more and smoothed out my hips. But it didn't live up to the lofty claim of a “tabletop-flat stomach,” as its website states.
Yes, they do run small, but once you find your size they do live up to their name. They're a WOW legging. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs., a size medium (or 10) in pants or leggings. I ordered the large and they're a perfect fit.
Tuck them under your braPut your Spanx on BEFORE you put on your bra. If they are long enough (and I will be honest here, they are NOT long enough on me at 5ft 10") you can tuck the top of the waistband under your bra. The first garment should be fitted for you in the office prior to surgery and applied in the operating room. Often it will become loose as the edema is mobilized, and then it will need to be replaced. Spanx is a reasonable compression garment if it gives enough support and is the right size.
