Walmart has a retail chain in the UK called Asda, and we think it combines the best of Walmart with a neighborhood supermarket. In the UK, Walmart acquired Asda — a UK-based supermarket that's the third largest in the nation — for $10.8 billion in 1999.
And the answer is, sadly, no. There's no Target in London or the UK!
In 1999, Asda was acquired by Walmart, and has since grown to become Britain's second largest supermarket. In October 2020, Walmart announced an agreement to sell Asda to entrepreneurs Mohsin and Zuber Issa, backed by British private equity firm TDR Capital.
Target has stores and distribution centers across the country and offices around the world—but they're so much more than buildings or points on a map. They're epicenters for strategy, service, community and fun.
US retailer Target has launched an international version of its website, making its products available to UK shoppers for the very first time. The company's international platform also opens up its goods for 200 other countries and territories worldwide.
So you won't find Macy's in the UK, but you do have some options when it comes to going to department stores in London or the rest of the UK. Debenham's operates in the UK and Ireland in addition to dozens of international locations (not America, though!) and they even offer additional services like insurance.
The company has a huge presence in the United States—its home country—but it has also been able to successfully penetrate the global market. The retailer has more than 11,000 locations in 27 different countries, including Chile, Mexico, and Guatemala.

central london is just more expensive for store purchased food because of the economics involved (smaller stores mean less scale, higher cost of staff, premises, conjestion charging, etc, etc.) i have never noticed a big difference in pricing among the smaller central london chains already discussed.
