The mansion has been renovated since appearing in the 1983 film "Scarface." Village Properties The mansion prominently featured in the 1983 film "Scarface" is not actually in Miami but in Montecito, California, 90 miles west of Los Angeles.
In both Scarface films, the main character was based on Al Capone — one of history's most notorious mobsters. Both Tony Camonte (from the 1932 film) and Tony Montana (from the 1983 film) were depicted as big-time mafia bosses. Capone died much more quietly.
Despite the movie's place in Florida and hip-hop lore, faux Miami locations are actually the rule, not the exception. Key spots, such as the Babylon Club, were shot inside a Hollywood sound stage, with a building in Davie, Florida standing in for the exterior.
The locale is transposed from St Tropez in the South of France to the wonderful Art Deco district of South Miami Beach. The 'Birdcage Club' itself is actually the splendid Carlyle, 1250 Ocean Drive at 13th Street. Built in 1939, it's one of South Beach's celebrated Art Deco landmarks, its façade virtually unchanged.

Tabraue reigned supreme in Miami's Cocaine Cowboy era of the 1980s and was tied to a hotel chainsaw dismemberment that Hollywood screenwriter Oliver Stone used as the basis for the famous scene in Scarface, where Tony Montana watches his childhood friend Angel Fernandez get chopped up via chainsaw in a dingy Ocean
How old is Al Pacino?
80 years (April 25, 1940)
That prompted some scenes to be shot in California, such as Tony's trophy house, known as the El Fureidis Estate, in Montecito, California. It was Tony's palatial trophy home that was a big part of the movie carnage when Tony killed over 20 assassins in his final desperate stand.
