The biggest difference between the 4L60 and 4L60E is how both are controlled. For 4L60E control comes from a computer. For the 4L60, control comes form a TV cable. With one being controlled by computer and the other not, there are compatibility issues that the two have.
The standard transmission for the R15 and V15 is the four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. A three-speed automatic transmission is standard in the R25 and V25 Suburban.

Open the driver's side door and find the white card on the side of the door that is filled with small black lettering. This card contains specific details about the year the car was made, its transmission, engine specifications and other details. Underneath or beside the “TR†symbol will be a number code.
Appearance. The 4L80E can be told apart from the 4L60E by looking at their transmission fluid pan. This is because the 4L80E has a pan that is oval in shape whereas a rectangular pan is featured by the 4L60E. Another disparity between both devices is the number of bolts used to secure the transmission to the engine.
While there are no distinctive pans and bolt counts to make transmission identification simple, 4-speed manual transmissions can be generally identified by examining the side profile. The shape of the main housing will give a reasonably reliable indication of the transmission group to which your gearbox belongs.
Each truck sported a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission.

Introduced in 1993 for trucks, vans, and SUVs, then in 1994 for rear-wheel-drive passenger cars, the 4L60E from General Motors is an evolution of the Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 and replaced the tried and true TH350.

The 2007 year model is the worst you can buy, as it has the highest number of complaints and they're the most expensive, like transmission failure costing almost $3,000 and engine failure costing nearly $6,000. The 2009 comes close behind, with the potential to incur extreme costs around 50,000 miles.
The average price range for transmission replacement is between $1,800 and $3,400 for a brand-new component. The additional cost of labor is often between $500 and $1,200, and you should also take taxes and associated fees into account.
A well-maintained Chevy Suburban should easily reach 200,000 miles of service and can often reach 300,000 miles.
How Long Does the Transmission Last? The transmission on the Chevy Suburban is built to last between 130,000 to 220,000 miles without ever needing replacement, so long as a proper servicing schedule is followed.
Now a new Suburban arrives for 2021 -- as a big ol' body-on-frame SUV. Only bigger. Compared to its 2020 predecessor, this 12th-generation rides a wheelbase that stretches 4.1 inches farther while the vehicle itself, at a whisker under 19 feet long, casts a shadow 1.3 inches longer.
Chevrolet redesigned the Suburban for 2021. This new model may be only 1.3 inches longer than its predecessor, but it features an independent rear suspension instead of a solid axle, and this switch has vastly improved the SUV's ride quality and handling, as well as its interior space.
Largest SUV: 2021 Chevrolet SuburbanThe latest 12th-generation Chevrolet Suburban measures a stout 225.7 inches (5.73 metres) bumper to bumper. [UPDATE: It's been drawn to our attention that the Ford Excursion SUV, circa 2005, beats out the Suburban by exactly an inch for title of longest-ever SUV.
The overall crash, overall frontal-crash and overall frontal-crash passenger scores for the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban are good, at four out of five stars. The overall frontal-crash driver score is excellent, at five out of five stars.

Re: What transmission in 91 K2500? The 700R4 is technically a 4L60. The 4L60"E" is the electronic version that is computer controlled and uses soleniods for the shifting duties. The absence of a TV cable in a 91 could also mean TH350/400.

The easiest way to tell the difference between a 1500 and 2500 Chevy truck is to look at the VIN numbers of both, and check the sixth digit. If the sixth digit is a "1", the truck is a 1500, if it is a "2", the truck is a 2500.
With the end of the GMT-900 generation (2007–14), GM retired its 2500-series of Suburbans and Yukons, and the monolithic eight-lug SUVs burbled off into the sunset without a replacement from the GMT-K2 (2014–20) trucks.
Transmission and Fuel Economy The 1994 Silverado came with a five-speed manual transmission standard, but a four-speed automatic overdrive was optional in all trim levels.
