One major difference between the 2 systems is the test strips. Bayer Contour glucose meters use Contour test strips whereas Contour NEXT glucose meters use Contour NEXT test strips. Much like the meters, these test strips share some similarities and dissimilarities. For the most part, they are fairly identical.
Contour test strips are used to measure glucose in the blood. The lowest GoodRx price for the most common version of Contour is around $109.56, 21% off the average retail price of $139.86. Compare medical supplies and devices.
All of the trade name test strips were more precise than the alternative test strips designed for the individual meters. Conclusions: Alternative glucose test strips can be used to predict the actual laboratory blood glucose values but are generally not as accurate or precise as the trade name test strips.

Meeting the New Contour Next ONE. The new Next ONE model is an upgrade of the Contour Next USB meter, which was discontinued as of Dec. 31, 2016. Now, the Contour Next ONE has eliminated all of those buttons except for a single round circle 'OK' button with an up and down choice.
† CONTOUR®NEXT EZ meter meets ±10% accuracy vs. laboratory method, specifically: 99.5% of results within ±10% for blood glucose concentrations ≥5.55 mmol/L, and 100% of results within ±0.56 mmol/L accuracy vs. laboratory method for blood glucose concentrations <5.55 mmol/L.
Contour Next can show 7, 14, 30 or 90 day averages, but EZ only shows 7, 14 and 30 day averages. Contour Next requires a setup prior to doing your first test (self-guided testing setup) while the EZ requires no set-up and is ready to use right out of the box.
