Reassemble and boot your XPS 15
- Position the laptop's base panel in place.
- Replace the 12 screws around the edge of the base and under the XPS label plate.
- Turn over and open the laptop.
- Install the old SSD in your external drive enclosure.
- Plug the old SSD into any USB port on the XPS 15.
Begin to pull the top part of the case upward as you grasp the buttons. The Dell case will swing open on a hinge on the front of the computer. As you begin to lift the case upward, release the buttons. If you continue to depress the buttons as you pull upward, the case will not open.

- Pull the right-side cover release latch.
- Lift the right-side cover and then slide it towards the top of the computer.
