The area is generally open to the public from April 1 through November 30, depending on the weather. Activities allowed at the lake include fishing, camping and hiking. All noise and music be off at 10 p.m.
Come out and visit this fall anytime Friday thru Sunday 8am - 5pm. We will be closing November 1st till the spring 2020 fishing season starts.
Site Entrance gate hours for Bluewater Lake during the summer, April 1st to Oct 31st are 6 am -9 pm. Entrance gate hours for the winter, Nov 1st to March 31st are 7 am to 5pm.
Pecos National Historical Park is open every day except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Entrance to the park is free. Costilla Creek is possibly New Mexico's best wild Rio Grande cutthroat stream. It is actually a small tailwater flowing out of Costilla reservoir, down through the gorgeous mountain meadows and gorges of the Valle Vidal. Most of the upper Costilla is fly fishing only.
Fenton Lake, Bluewater Lake, Manzano Mountains, and Morphy Lake are still closed. The state's Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department said Manzano and Morphy are closed because of ongoing construction.
Santa Cruz Lake is open year-round. Day use hours are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. An overnight camping fee will be required for anyone choosing to remain in the recreation area after the specified day-use hours.
Of all New Mexico reservoirs, Ute, Conchas, Navajo and Elephant Butte are best for bass fishing. Other New Mexico bass fishing reservoirs include Caballo, Cochiti, Bill Evans, Santa Rosa, Abiquiu, and Sumner.
Fishermen will find a variety of fish including smallmouth bass, carp, bream/bluegill, catfish, northern pike, crappie and largemouth bass here. Whether you're baitcasting, spinning or fly fishing your chances of getting a bite here are good. So grab your favorite fly fishing rod and reel, and head out to Cochiti Lake.
Monastery Lake is a lake located just 1.7 miles from Pecos, in San Miguel County, in the state of New Mexico, United States. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including bream/bluegill, brook trout, largemouth bass, brown trout, northern pike and rainbow trout here.

Abiquiu Lake is in northern New Mexico just 61 miles north of Santa Fe. The lake sits at the base of Pedernal Peak and was featured in many of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. Get out there and bring a picnic on the scenic cliffs that surround the lake — and pull out your boat while you're at it.
From Pecos, follow NM-63 north into Pecos Canyon. You'll pass the town of Terrero and the roads will climb up on the east side of the river. Eventually you'll pass the Mora campground and the road will climb again and you'll reach a junction that points to the Iron Gate Campground. Turn right.
Pecos Baldy Lake is a 14.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Tererro, New Mexico that offers the chance to see wildlife and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and horses and is best used from June until October.
The Pecos River (Spanish: RÃo Pecos) originates in north-central New Mexico and flows into Texas, emptying into the Rio Grande. Its headwaters are on the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Mora County north of Pecos, NM, at an elevation of over 12,000 feet (3,700 m) feet.
