Plastic waste pipe is available in 4 basic sizes (external diameter) for different plumbing uses: 21.5mm - for overflows such as cold water tank, cisterns etc. 32mm - for hand basin waste pipe. 40mm - for sink and bath waste pipe.
The most common size of the drainage hole in a bathroom sink is 1 1/4 inches in diameter, although you may also find some with a diameter of 1 1/2 inches or more.
Valve Height
A height of 28 inches, or 2 feet 4 inches, is standard for valves in bathtub shower units. For shower stalls, install the valve at the standard height of 48 inches, or 4 feet.Install the water lines.
- You will need to run 5 water lines into a standard bathroom: a hot and cold line for both the bathtub/shower and the sink, and a cold water line for the toilet.
- You can either run these lines through the wall or up from the floor, depending on the location of your bathroom.
The bathroom plumbing rough-in dimensions you need to know.
The bathroom sink's water lines are roughed-in 3 inches above the drain. Measure 21 inches (approximately) above the finished floor. The hot line and cold line are spaced 8 inches apart (from left to right).If the waste line has a diameter of 1 1/4 inches, the vent can be no farther than 2 1/2 feet from the trap. If the waste line is 1 1/2 inches, this critical distance is 3 1/2 feet. The minimum diameter of the vent pipe is 1 1/4 inches in both cases.
The standard distance from the back wall is 12 inches, or 12-1/2 inches from the center of the flange to the wall framing. Minimum distance in front of the toilet to the facing wall or fixture is 21 inches.

The standard height of a bathroom vanity cabinet is 32″. Bathroom vanities range from 30″-36″ in height. Modern bath cabinets have become taller in recent years in what is known as “Comfort Height Vanities.”
Hang the mirror 5” to 10” inches above the sink. Hang the mirror a few inches above the highest part of the faucet. Center the mirror in between the vanity lighting and the sink.

The user side of the counter must meet ADA codes also. The counter height range for an ADA work surface is from 28 inches to 34 inches above finished floor. The typical seated height will be 30 inches, but if you want a stand-up counter, it can be no higher than 34 inches.
If a bathroom is provided, there must be at least 30 inches by 48 inches of floor space available in at least one bathroom. Handicap accessible bathrooms must be able to accommodate at least a 60 inch diameter turning space for a wheelchair.

The standard ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) height toilets must have, a 17”-19” floor to bowl rim height, including the seat. You should also consider the toilet rough-in from the wall, which is commonly 12”. Other rough-in dimensions in older homes can be 10” or 14”.
General bathroom access and safety. An accessible bathroom needs to be 30” x 48” for mobility devices in front of each plumbing fixture and room to turn around in a wheelchair. Doorway will need to be widened for wheelchair access. A door into bathroom should be a minimum of 34” wide for wheelchair users.
