Gold version has that retro-nostalgic feel to it, but HeartGold is definitely the better game.
Heart Gold is the better version. I'm a fan of Silver. you can catch mawile in it and Lugia is on the cover. In reality there isn't much of a difference.
Victreebel is a solid sun sweeper, with Chlrophyll and Growth as well as decent moves like Weather Ball, Sucker Punch, Swords Dance, Leaf Blade etc. So if you train it right, yeah it's a pretty good grass type to have on a team - well ingame.
So excited to play it! It was probably produced less because of the increased costs of the bundled in Pokewalker. The games are also generally considered to be the best of the series and the accessory itself was really popular. I think it's also so expensive just because it has more content than the other games.
Togekiss makes a pretty good Flying type, however - it sports a very high Sp. Atk stat, and it's defensive stats are pretty good, as well. It's Physical Attack stat is crap, however, and its Speed is kinda lacking, but I've used one on my Platinum file and found it a very good member on the team overall.
The Egg given to you by Elm's aide contains a Togepi, and you should be able to get a Togekiss around Goldenrod assuming you get lucky with the Bug Catching contest.

When you talk to Bill in Ecruteak City, he will go home to Goldenrod City, where you'll have to find him again. He'll give you an Eevee he can't look after. You can only get one Eevee this way. Go to the Celadon City Game Corner.There are only 2 ways to get all starters. You must either migrate them from another game, like Diamond, Pearl, and other previous games. The second option would be to have 2 DS's, and 2 games. On one of them, simply start the game and pick which starter you want.
Starters
- You can get one of the Johto starter Pokémon from Professor Elm at the beginning of the game.
- You can get one of the Kanto starter Pokémon from Professor Oak after beating Red.
- You can get one of the Hoenn starter Pokémon from Steven after beating Red.

You can in fact get one of the Kanto starters in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Go to the top of Mt. Silver, and defeat Red at least once. After you defeat Red, go to Pallet Town and speak to Professor Oak in his lab, where you'll be able to get one of the three Kanto starters.
Fortunately, this is not just an impossible dream. Begin your "HeatGold" or "SoulSilver" game by going downstairs and talking to your mom. Go next door to Professor Elm's house. He will let you choose one of the three starters.
Totodile has a better moveset, better stats and better typing than Cyndaquil, but you also don't get any decent fire-type pokémon before the E4 and Gyarados still outclasses Feraligator.
Yes. It's actually easier than getting a regular shiny, because you can check if they are shiny before you pick them. So, every soft reset, you have 3 chances of getting a shiny. In 1000 soft resets, you have a 30.7% chance of getting at least one shiny starter.

2 Answers. There is always a chance that a generated pokemon will be shiny. So yes a 'starter' starter pokemon CAN be shiny with the same 1 in 8192 chance as usual. You get the Day-care very soon after the first badge so you are no longer halfway through the game before you can breed a pokemon you want.
Head to where Raikou is (walk or run but do not fly!).
- You'll most likely need to go to an area where the city limits meet a route (any city, including Ecruteak City, Violet City, and GoldenRod City) and continuously run in and out of the city and check your map.
- Walk in the tall grass to encounter Raikou.
If you are playing Heart Gold, Lugia is also obtainable at the Whirl Islands, but you need to obtain the Silver Feather from a person in Pewter City. Once you have it, you can go to the bottom of Whirl Islands and Lugia will be there, this time at Level 70.
The major difference between HeartGold and SoulSilver is standard for the series, too: each version contains a few Pokemon the other does not. HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of 2000's Gold and Silver, which essentially means Nintendo has revamped a Game Boy Color game for the DS.
Overall the game has a great world, great music, enough of the modern mechanics to not be frustrating, and a wealth of content. Johto and Kanto are both very cozy regions and the story being in the background is pretty refreshing compared to the most recent pokemon generations. Yo, Champ in the Making!
How to get Lapras. For you to find Lapras you must have the HM Surf. Go to Route 32 or 33 to enter Union cave and go to the lower left entrance by surfing across a small mass of water. Surf across the water to get to where Lapras is.
You have to either:
- Trade the onix to another trainer while it is holding the Metal Coat then get it back in a trade a second time.
- Trade any Pokemon with Jasmine to get a Steelix with a soothe bell. You first have to defeat her in a rematch and trade with her between 1 and 2 PM in game.
Navigate to one of the following locations, as all of them have Heracross in the trees: Route 7, Route 16, Route 28, Route 33, Route 42, Route 44, Route 45, Route 46, Route 47, Azalea Town, Vermilion City, Celadon City, or Mt. Silver. Press "A" next to any tree to perform a Headbutt on the tree.

To get Fly in HG/SS, you need to defeat Chuck, the Gym Leader of Cianwood City, and talk to his wife outside of the Gym, who will give you Fly.
In the Generation 2 Remakes (HeartGold and SoulSilver), No. 384 Rayquaza will be able to learn Fly at level 65. In the Generation 7 remakes (UltraSun and UltraMoon), Rayquaza can learn Fly at A lot of flying type Pokémon can learn Fly by leveling or by using TMs or HMs.
swablu can be only found in route 45 when swarming.
Pidgeotto isn't the best Pokemon you can get, but its also one of the few flying types there are at the beginning. Also, it has higher defense than attack, and higher attack than special attack. Unfortunately, the only physical flying type attack it learns through leveling up is wing attack at level 34.
