Solid, reliable and reasonably competitive: that's Three. It's not the cheapest mobile network, but then the major providers rarely are. You can get unlimited mobile data on selected plans and there are some nice extras around streaming video and audio and roaming abroad benefits.
Virgin Mobile uses the Three network, one of the biggest networks in Ireland with 99.9% population coverage (plus 99% coverage for 3G data services and 97.6% for 4G services).
Three uses both 3G and 4G LTE networks in Ireland, along with the 2G network acquired with the purchase of O2.

The average American cell phone bill is $70 for a single user, according to JD Power. That adds up to $840 per year, which is basically the same cost as buying a used car. But by taking a few simple steps, you can lower your phone bill significantly.

Whether you switch to a prepaid plan or negotiate a better deal for your post-paid plan, you can probably save considerable bucks if you can separate then cost of a phone from the cost of your call, texts, and data use. If you can afford to buy a phone outright, make sure it's an unlocked one, Moore-Crispin said.
Typical costs: Basic text and talk phone plans generally cost $40-$60 a month. Basic plans typically have a restricted number of talk minutes (often less than 500) and unlimited texting. Basic plans also often include free mobile-to-mobile calls to lines on the same carrier and free nights and weekends.
O2 has more choice. There's a slightly greater range of tariffs, again spanning from 1GB to 50GB data, on 12-month plans. Prices here work similarly to EE's, though for the most part they're a little cheaper per month. O2 wins for its range of SIM-only plans, and just about pips EE on price too.
iD Mobile offers the cheapest SIM only plan in the UK at just £6 for 1GB of data, unlimited minutes, and unlimited texts.
There are actually only four UK mobile networks – EE, Three, O2* and Vodafone (check signal using Ofcom's Mobile Coverage Checker). All the other providers 'piggyback' – ie, buy space from – one of these four networks. For example, Tesco and Giffgaff are on O2, Asda is on EE, Smarty uses Three and Voxi is on Vodafone.

- How much data do you need on your contract?
- Get cheap mobile phone insurance.
- Phone contracts with cashback offers.
- Choose the best length contract.
- Find a deal with reduced overseas tariffs.
- Consider SIM only contracts.
Who has the best SIM only deals?
- Three: best for big data and unlimited plans.
- EE: best for fast speeds and overall performance.
- Vodafone: strong balance of affordability and features.
- O2: heavy on the added benefits.
- Smarty Mobile: best value 1-month rolling option.

5 Tactics for Getting a Better Cell Phone Deal
- Use multiple methods when shopping around. If you're at the end of your cell phone contract, the ball's in your court.
- Include prepaid phones in your comparison.
- Negotiate.
- Check for a professional discount.
- Ask to compare the plan you're considering with a no-contract version.
Phone contracts are typically the most expensive option. If, on the other hand, your phone is still in good working order, a pay-as-you-go SIM may be the better option. 12-month deals tend to be slightly cheaper than 30-day rolling plans, but not by much.
