Smart Standby Settings tool - Lenovo Smart Standby is a Lenovo supplied application that will schedule active hours.
To make your PC sleep:
- Open power options: For Windows 10, select Start , then select Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
- Do one of the following:
- When you're ready to make your PC sleep, just press the power button on your desktop, tablet, or laptop, or close your laptop's lid.
To disable sleep mode completely you can use Local Group Policy:
- Launch Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Management > Sleep Settings.
- Open Policy called Allow Standby States (S1-S3) When Sleeping (Plugged In) and set value do Disabled.
To disable it, double-click on the CsEnabled variable and put a 0 (zero) in there. Reboot and you are done. There is a caveat to all of this, once you disable Connected Standby, your PC won't be able to sleep anymore (insomnia?). Hibernate should still work though.
If Surface Pro 4 won't wake up from sleep, you can try putting it to sleep by pressing the Power button. Users reported that waking up problems occur while closing the cover and putting the device to sleep. Instead of doing that, press the Power button to put the device to sleep and check if the problem reappears.
Start
- Start. , then type "sleep".
- Select Power and Sleep settings, then select Additional power settings at the bottom of the screen. The Power Options window appears.
- Select Balanced (recommended), Power saver, or select Create a power plan on the left side of the screen.
- Customize your plan settings as desired.
Click Start , Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and then click Power Options.
Click the down arrow on the button and choose one of the following options:
- Do nothing.
- Sleep.
- Hibernate.
- Shut down.
Enabling your keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode might resolve the issue.
- In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager.
- Click the arrow next to Keyboards, and then double-click the name of your keyboard.
- Click the Power management tab.
- Select the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer.
"Doing Windows Update" is a long process. Sending Windows to sleep while it's downloading updates is safe, it will simply resume later. Making it fall asleep while it's installing updates is not recommended. In the worst case it will corrupt Windows and you'll have to reinstall it.
Windows 10 Does not Update In Sleep Mode. PCs in the office do not always download and install Windows updates when set to the default sleep timeout.
2. Press the power button once. This should turn on your Surface or wake it from sleep. It's normal for your Surface to take several seconds to start up or wake from sleep.
Once saving the changes, your computer should stay connected to the network when in sleep mode. Open the Settings app and navigate to System -> Power & sleep. On the right-side pane, click the option “When my PC is asleep and on battery power, disconnect from the network” and change it to Never.
Connected Standby mode is primarily a device's battery operating mode on the Windows operating system. In this mode, the device is turned on, but the display will be dark. Connected Standby differs from sleep mode in its ability to instantly transition between an off-screen standby to an on-screen online mode.
Open up Power Options in the Control Panel. In Windows 10 you can get there from right clicking on the start menu and going to Power Options. Click change plan settings next to your current power plan. Change "Put the computer to sleep" to never.
