Where is Holby City filmed? The show is currently filmed in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, at the BBC Elstree Studios. The fictional hospital location itself, however, is based on the Bristol Royal Infirmary, and is known on-screen as Holby City Hospital.
No, Casualty is not filmed in a real hospital even though it looks convincing! The medical drama is shot at the BBC Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, which is a custom built set created to look like an NHS hospital. The exterior shots we see throughout the programme are filmed in Cardiff and wider South Wales.

Holby City premiered on 12 January 1999 on BBC One. Twenty-one series of the show have since aired, and a twenty-second began airing on 7 January 2020. The show's first series ran for nine episodes.
BBC have confirmed the fate of medical drama Casualty after it was announced that sister show Holby City has been axed by the broadcaster. In response to Digital Spy's request for comment, a BBC representative said: "I can confirm Casualty will absolutely be remaining on air."

On 2 June, producers of the show released a statement announcing that Holby City would come to an end in nine months' time. They said the “difficult decision” was made to provide room for “new opportunities”, as the BBC looks to move out of London and invest in other parts of the UK.
