Change your voicemail settings
- Open your device's Phone app ?.
- At the top right, tap More .
- Tap Settings. Voicemail.
- You can: Change what handles your voicemails: Tap Advanced Service. Set up your voice mailbox: Tap Advanced Setup. Change your notification settings: Tap Notifications.

Update Your Carrier's Voicemail AppIf a carrier-issued app isn't working, you may need to check for updates. You can check for updates to this app using the Google Play Store. The default voicemail greeting on the iPhone plays generic Your call has been forward to an automated voice message system recording. If you use your phone for work, create a personalized greeting that tells people you're a professional.
How to Delete Greeting on Voicemail
- Navigate to your voicemail option if using a cell phone.
- Listen to the recorded voicemail instructions.
- Press the number on your keypad symbolizing "Yes" when asked if you want to delete your current message.
- Select to record your own message if you want, or leave it as the mechanic default message.
Press and hold the 1 key to access the voicemail system. When you hear the recorded message, press the # key to bring you to the system menu. Press 4, for the Personal Options followed by 2 for Personal Greeting. Follow the prompts to record, listen to, re-record and save your greeting.
Change greeting
- From any Home screen, tap Applications.
- Scroll to and tap Visual Voicemail.
- Tap Greetings.
- Tap the greeting you want to use or tap Record a new greeting.
Please leave a message after the tone. or something like it? The default TMo message is "Please leave your message for <phone number>", then the beep. If you wan something else, set up a custom greeting. Unlike AT&T, it doesn't add a long recorded message at the end of your custom message.
“Hello! You've reached the voicemail of [your name], [your job title]. I'm currently either away from my desk or on the other line. Please leave your name, telephone number, and a short message after the beep, and I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as I'm available.”
Please leave me your name, number and message and I'll return your call at the earliest opportunity. Hi, you've reached [your name] at [your company]. I'm away from my desk. Please leave your name, number and a message, and I will get right back to you.
How to Leave a Voicemail
- Keep the length between 20-30 seconds.
- Lead with information relevant to the prospect.
- Ask a question you wouldn't pose in an email.
- Don't use a traditional close.
- Don't hang up without leaving a voicemail.
- Use your normal tone of voice.
- Leave voicemails at the end of the day.
If you are recording a voicemail message for business, be sure you include your name and your company's name, so people know who they are calling and were they are reaching them. If you do not include the business name, they may think they have mistakenly called you at your personal number.
To call your voicemail on an Android phone, simply open your phone's dial pad and hold your finger down on the "1" key. You can also call your voicemail from a different phone by calling your own number and tapping the pound key.
When leaving a voicemail, hanging up sends it. Here's how it works: after the beep, the automated system on the other end starts recording all input from your end into an audio file. That audio file is then registered as a new “voicemail” for the intended recipient.
On an Android phone, a voicemail icon will appear at the top left of your screen in the Status area if you have an unread voicemail. Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to view your notifications and then press New Voicemail. Your phone will dial the voice mailbox.

To retrieve and listen to voicemail messages, touch the Phone icon on the home screen, then tap the Voicemail symbol at the bottom of the screen. Press the “Play” button next to any message to hear it.
How to use voicemail transcription in the Phone app
- Open your Phone app.
- Tap on the "Voicemail" tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap on any recent voicemail to transcribe it.
- The transcription will soon be made available and should immediately appear after tapping on it from now on.
Visual Voicemail lets you manage your voicemails by reviewing them in a list on your iPhone. You can listen to any message by simply tapping on it – no need to listen to instructions or prior messages.
To use a greeting that you've already recorded or switch back to the default greeting:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Voice app .
- At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
- In the Voicemail section, tap Voicemail greeting.
- Next to the greeting that you would like to use, tap more Set as active.
Go to the Settings app, switch Airplane Mode to off, then switch it back on 30 seconds later. If that doesn't work, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Network Settings. You also might want to try powering down your iPhone and turning it back on.
If you don't have access to your online account, you can dial in to your voicemail by pressing and holding the '1' key on your phone's keypad. After your phone connects to the voicemail system, you can access your password settings by pressing '*', followed by the 5 key.
Note: Your voicemail Personal Identification Number (PIN) is similar to a password. Just like a password is required to receive email, your PIN must be entered each time you retrieve voicemail messages. Voicemail comes with a default PIN which is the last 6-digits of your account number.
Calling from Phone
- Press *611 then press SEND (airtime is free).
- When prompted to state the reason for your call, say "Reset voicemail password".
- If prompted, enter the requested info for security verification.
- Follow the prompts to reset the password.
If you are an AT&T customer, you can disable the voicemail passwords simply by calling your voicemail. If you have new voicemail, press "*" to skip to the Main Menu. Press "4" to access Personal Options, then "2" for Administrative Options and "1" for Password Options. Press "2" to disable your voicemail password.
Press and hold the "1" key on your phone and follow the prompts to set up your chatr mobile voicemail service.
By default, the system requires a password when you call to access voicemail: For increased security, change your voicemail password. This helps prevents unauthorized voicemail access from your own or another phone.
