With prompt medical treatment, the infection can improve in just a few days. Nasal vestibulitis is not a serious condition, but in rare cases, it can cause severe complications if a person does not seek and receive treatment for it. Do not delay care, as this gives the infection time to spread.
Use Vaseline petroleum jelly or Aquaphor. You can apply this gently to each nostril 2-3 times a day to promote moisturization for your nose. You may also use triple antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin or Bacitracin. These can all be bought over-the-counter.

Medications your doctor may prescribe to treat your condition include:
- topical antibiotic medications, such as metronidazole (Metro gel) and erythromycin.
