Chester Zoo operates a no smoking policy. Smoking is allowed however in designated areas. You can take your own food and drink, with indoor and outdoor picnic areas. The zoo opens at 10am and there's free car parking.
Visitors to Chester Zoo may soon be able to stay overnight, with giraffes roaming right past the windows. Plans have been submitted for lodge accommodation at the zoo, as well as a large restaurant with views across the plains. It's part of the attraction's Grasslands proposal, due to open to the public in 2022.
If you are prepared to rush around without taking the time to appreciate what you see you could do it in 2 hours or so. However, to get the best experience, allow a full day. over a year ago.

The Dubai Safari Park entry fee is currently priced at AED 50 for adults and AED 20 for children. A Combo Dubai Safari ticket will set you back by AED 85 for adults and AED 30 for children. Make sure that you take advantage of these Dubai Safari Park offers if you plan on visiting with family!
Registered assistance dogs are welcome but we ask that you contact us in advance to let us know as there are certain routes that aren't available for animal wellbeing reasons. We ask that other dogs aren't brought to the zoo.
The zoo is a registered conservation charity and you can help support their mission by getting involved. There are daily talks, hands-on experiences and regular animal arrivals; take a lazy boat trip, hitch a monorail ride or scamper along the skipping lane!
Except in the unlikely event of a total closure of the Zoo where clause 4.11 applies we are unable to refund any tickets in the event of adverse weather conditions or any other unforeseeable events which are beyond our reasonable control in accordance with clause 25 (Events Outside Our Control).
All visitors will need an advance booking to get in to the zoo whilst we have social distancing measures in place (this includes our members and those with prepaid open dated tickets). Please don't visit the zoo without a booking confirmation as we won't be able to let you in.
They do have NHS discount, but it's only 10% off at the door, so you're better off booking online.
Total visitor related income for 2019, which includes admission fees and membership income, rose by 9% to £30.6m (2018: £28.1m).
For the health and safety of other guests and animals please follow these posted guidelines to help promote proper distance. All Zoo staff are required to wear masks. If a guest feels sick before their reservation, we ask that they not visit the Zoo.
Unless the government guidelines change, whether or not you have to wear a face mask will vary from zoo to zoo. A spokesperson for the British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums (BIAZA) told Fabulous Digital that asking guests to wear face masks "is up to the discretion of the zoo where they deem it appropriate."
