By itself, Gmail has everything you'd ever want in an email service, so that's what I'm going to recommend; if you like Apple Mail, or if you're used to Apple devices in general, you can still use your Gmail account in tandem with Apple Mail.
Gmail uses labels to help you organize with more flexibility. A conversation can have several labels, so you're not forced to choose one particular folder for messages. You can also create filters to automatically manage incoming mail. Starring messages is another way you can organize your inbox.

You need a Google account only if you want to use Google services. If you don't want to use Google services, you are free not to have a Google account. By the way, you can use the rest of Android without a Google account since the operating system itself is free and open source.

Email is short for Electronic Mail and the mail is transmitted from the sender's computer to server and from there to the recipients server from where it can either be viewed or downloaded. IM is short for Instant Messaging and needs the users to be logged in to the same server. Messages are delivered instantly.

To make this change please follow the instructions below:
- Gmail Settings.

For Google employees, their work e-mail is “@google.com” - and owned by their employer Google. Their personal e-mail, owned by them, may be “@gmail.com”. Google (of course) uses GSuite Gmail for its employees, so both of these are “Gmail accounts”, but they are very different.
Is it possible that someone has the exact same email address as me ? No, it's not. Fortunately Google does not allow duplicate accounts to be created, so there are not two accounts with the same name and no one is getting e-mail that hasn't been sent specifically to their account.
When you need a generic email address in an example, use a Gmail address that has a username less than six letters long. Gmail doesn't allow usernames that short, so this approach ensures that you're not accidentally giving a real username. For example, you can use liz@gmail.com or darcy@gmail.com.
To sign up for Gmail, create a Google Account. You can use the username and password to sign in to Gmail and other Google products like YouTube, Google Play, and Google Drive. Go to the Google Account creation page. Follow the steps on the screen to set up your account.
