It used to be possible to avoid TicketMaster fees by visiting the box office, or reduce them by buying at an outlet. On occasion this is still true but nearly all single event tickets sell online today, and avoiding an online purchase is a tall task.
1. Head to TKTS. The classic way to find deeply discounted tickets is to wait in line, on the day of the show, at TDF's TKTS Booth under the red steps in Duffy Square (47th Street and Broadway). All but the biggest Broadway hits are on sale there, mostly at 50 percent off.
Theatre Development Fund's TKTS booth is located at Father Duffy Square, at the intersection of Broadway & 7th Ave at 47th Street. Buy directly from the box office to avoid service fees
Most larger music venues and stadiums have a box office where you can purchase tickets directly. I've promoted thousands of shows over the past 10 years, with about 90% of them having been in Ticketmaster venues. One thing has been consistent: there are no service charges ("convenience fees") on tickets sold at the venue box office.
With the NYC Broadway Week 2-for-1 Ticket Offer, you get 50% off each ticket with a minimum of two tickets purchased. There is a two-ticket minimum per purchase.
