There is no known cause of why Skype keeps crashing for some users. Most of the time, crash reports come from Windows 10 users after system updates. Another thing that could cause constant crashing in Skype is compatibility issues, damaged files or malware.
To isolate the issue, please follow the steps below:
- Open the Start menu and click Settings.
- Click Apps.
- Locate and click Skype from the Applications list.
- Click Advanced option.
- Select Reset?.
- Uninstall Skype.
- Restart your device.
- Reinstall Skype.
Here's how:
- Turn on your PC and launch the Skype application on your computer.
- Click on the "Help" button.
- Click "Check for updates manually."
- Launch and sign in to Skype.
- Click "Skype" in the top toolbar.
- Click "Check for updates" and select the update if available.
In most of the cases, the reason this issue keeps happening is a corrupted file in the Skype folder. To fix the problem, it is recommended you perform a clean reinstall of Skype. Note, clean installation won't be possible unless you fully delete Skype from your Mac first.
Step 2: Remove Skype for Business from your computer
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program.
- Choose Skype for Business > Uninstall.
- At the Ready to uninstall?
- When it's done uninstalling, choose Close.
Click the Skype for Business link on the left-side column:
- Select your preferred language.
- Choose the version that matches your Office programs.
- Click Install to download Skype for Business.
- Choose Run to start the download.
- Click Yes to confirm.
