Have you ever noticed that natural redheads usually have a very fair, translucent skin? In general, their skin is thinner than that of people with other hair colors. And the dentin is normally a yellowish or grayish color. As a result, the redhead's teeth will appear to be less white, because more dentin is apparent.
In Scotland, approximately 13% of the population are redheads, although 40% carry at least one mutation. The mutations in the MC1R gene imparts the hair and skin more pheomelanin than eumelanin, causing both red hair and freckles. Redheads have very fair skin, almost always lighter than non-redheads.
No. It's an unusual trait, that's all. Redheads are no more inbred on average than any other person, give or take a couple percent. Inbreeding is usually considered unhealthy for the offspring.
In Sweden there are of course red-haired people, but they are not common, perhaps 1-2 % of the population is said to be red-haired, some experts say it can be even less. According to Wiki, red-hair are most frequent in Ireland and Scotland.
When Scandinavia was populated after the ice age, dark skinned humans with blue eyes came from the South, while more light skinned with mixed eyes came from Northeast, and they met and mixed.
Natural red hair is the rarest hair color in the world, only occurring in 1 to 2% of the global population.
How tall were the Vikings? The average Viking was 8-10 cm (3-4 inches) shorter than we are today. The skeletons that the archaeologists have found, reveals, that a man was around 172 cm tall (5.6 ft), and a woman had an average height of 158 cm (5,1 ft).
Less than 2% of the world's population have red hair
That's approximately 140 million people. Scotland boasts the highest percentage of natural redheads, with 13% (40% might carry the gene there) while Ireland comes in second with 10%.Redheads are common among Celtic and Germanic peoples. Scotland has the highest proportion of redheads; 13% of the population has red hair and approximately 40% carries the recessive redhead gene.
Blue eyes and red hair forms the rarest combo on earth. Most (natural) redheads will have brown eyes, followed by hazel or green shades.
Black Irish. The definition of black Irish is used to describe Irish people with dark hair and dark eyes thought to be decedents of the Spanish Armada of the mid-1500s, or it is a term used in the United States by mixed-race descendants of Europeans and African Americans or Native Americans to hide their heritage.
Ireland has the highest per capita percentage of redheads in the world -- anywhere from 10 to 30 percent, according to Eupedia, a website that explores European genetics and ancestry. They are almost equally prevalent in Scotland and other pockets of Celtic pride.
Red hair is caused by V60L allele – 'the ginger gene'. Some experts say it developed up to 50,000 years ago when humans left Africa and arrived in Europe. The days were shorter and colder which meant that people had less time in the sun and absorbed less Vitamin D.
The red hair gene isn't even technically from Ireland. Red hair can also be found in parts of Northern Africa, with the current Queen of Morocco sporting naturally red locks.
Red hair is more common in Ireland because of Celtic genes and pale skin as an adaptation to less sunlight. The gene for red hair is a recessive and is always in the minority in the population.
Globally, red hair is rather rare. Just 1-2 per cent of the human population possesses the ginger gene. Red hair is relatively common in England, Iceland and Norway, too, while Germany, Sweden, Finland, The Netherlands and northern France are all ahead of the global average.

“The only other density of red hair which compares to Scotland and Ireland is in Scandinavia. It becomes a cultural marker of the Norse and of the Vikings. “If you look at where the red haired patterning is in Ireland, in particular, it is very much around the areas where Vikings settled.
Are redheads born with red hair? Answer: In general, most people who have red hair would show the trait at birth. Some people have the genotype for red hair in addition to genes coding for dark hair (more eumelanin production).

It becomes a cultural marker of the Norse and of the Vikings. Redheadedness is a north and western European trait, but the pattern of redheads in the British Isles is more consistent with the ancient indigenous Celtic inhabitants who were here before the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons.
Only 2% of people in world are Red-heads. A similar percentage is also seen for all green eyed people in the world. That also means only 4 people among 10,000 individuals can have the combination of red hair and green eyes. That is very rare.
Redheads don't go grey
Ginger hair retains its natural pigment a lot longer than other shades, so there's no need to panic about going grey. Red hair simply fades with age through a glorious spectrum of faded copper to rosy-blonde colours, then to silvery-white.Two Redheads Make a Redhead
Most likely neither parent produces much eumelanin at all if any, so they can't pass it to their child. If by exception, both parents carried a very small amount of eumelanin, they could potentially birth a blonde baby, if neither passed the redhead gene.As a recessive trait it must be inherited from both parents to cause the hair to become red. Consequently there are far more people carrying the mutation for red hair than people actually having red hair. In Scotland, approximately 13% of the population are redheads, although 40% carry at least one mutation.
It's not a myth, we have a ferocious temper
All the gingers I know (myself included) have relaxed and easy-going personalities 99.9% of the time but when something sends us over the edge, it really sends us over edge. According to research redheads have more sex than blondes and brunettes. As proven by a 2003 study by McGill University, scarlet-haired women can cope with up to 25 per cent more pain thanks to the rare genetic mutation associated with red hair and fair skin: MC1R. This nifty gene also means that redheads react to changes in temperature more intensely.
Sorry, ginger-haired English Prince Harry. Ireland has the highest per capita percentage of redheads in the world -- anywhere from 10 to 30 percent, according to Eupedia, a website that explores European genetics and ancestry. They are almost equally prevalent in Scotland and other pockets of Celtic pride.
Previous studies had shown that redheads inherit two versions of the MC1R gene that leads to red hair -- one from their mum and one from their dad. Although almost everyone with red hair has two copies of the red-haired version of MC1R, not everyone carrying two red-haired versions is a redhead.
The gene for red hair is recessive, so a person needs two copies of that gene for it to show up or be expressed. That means even if both parents carry the gene, just one in four of their children are likely to turn out to be a redhead.
