Yes. Tonfa are really good but you need to learn how to use them. That's probably the best advice for all the weapons but it feels the truest with tonfa. Your goal isnt to straight up kill someone but rather whittle down their ki and deal damage and open them up to a grapple and then repeat.

It's beginner friendly in the sense that it explains its mechanics better and eases you into the game slower. It's still got a lot of the dark souls difficulty though. The combat is snappier than on souls, with attacks not generally having the same long wind up.
