Recording times are relatively limited, unfortunately, with only a 10 minute maximum recording time for High movie quality at 1080/60p (this increases to 20 minutes at Normal quality setting).
Recording Movies
- Rotate the live view switch. The view through the lens will be displayed in the monitor.
- Focus. Frame the opening shot and focus.
- Start recording. Press the movie-record button to start recording.
- End recording. Press the movie-record button again to end recording.
- End live view.

Nikon D90 focusingThe AF mode is changed by pressing and holding the AF button on the top surface of the body while turning the thumb dial. A switch to the side of the lens mount sets the camera to auto or manual focus.

The tilting touchscreen LCD makes it easy to get the shot, even from high or low angles. Use Touch AF, Touch Shutter control and navigate menus, playback and more as if you were using a touch-enabled smart device. Zoom in during Live View shooting and use the new Pinpoint AF to put focus right where you want it.
Having a stable image is even more important in video because people can see any shakiness. With a still photo, stabilization is only needed for the fraction of a second that image is exposed, but with video it needs to stay stable for the entire length of the clip.
1Set the Mode dial to A (aperture-priority autoexposure) and select the lowest f-stop value possible. Dialing in a low f-stop value is the first step in softening your portrait background. Also keep in mind that the farther your subject is from the background, the more blurring you can achieve.
