Devon is a very safe place to live and visit.We live just outside Bideford in the village of Littleham which is beautiful and quiet. North Devon property is good value for money – must confess that we are not very clued up on good/less good areas to live. The lifestyle here is very outdoors – we love the beaches, cliffs, walking etc.
My favourite place in Ilfracombe is the view of the sunset from Capstone Hill, it's so beautiful up there. I also very much like the Tunnels Beaches, it's great to sit on the rocks there and gaze out over the sea when it's flat calm. The coastal scenery is fantastic as well. A wonderful town.
Exeter is a peaceful, scenic city surrounded by stunning countryside and coastal views. In addition to its rich history, there's a large student population, a vibrant atmosphere and lots of fun things to do – so students living in Exeter will always be entertained.
Exmouth. The East Devon town of Exmouth is a relaxed but vibrant place to live, ideal to retire to. It has two miles of sandy beaches, and is part of the Jurassic Coast, a designated area of natural beauty.
In common with most cities, Plymouth is faced with pockets of poverty and deprivation. Poverty is not just an issue of low income. Approximately 9,990 (18.6 per cent) children currently live in poverty in the city. In some more deprived areas of the city, over half of children are estimated to be living in poverty.

Woolacombe beach is much, much nicer and there is far more to do than in Ilfracombe. The little beach at Ilfracombe is not sandy nor particularly attractive for young children to play on.

And along with our picture postcard villages, the vibrant towns of Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester and Weymouth are bursting with places to eat, drink and shop.
Naturally, the more affluent areas are more pleasant to live in; East Boscombe, Talbot Woods, Westbourne, Southbourne, parts of Charminster and both of the Overcliff areas (to the east and west of Bournemouth pier )… I found that Bournemouth is a safe town with very low levels of crime or vandalism.

If you are looking for a family-friendly and serene place to live, Paignton is the place to be. One of the greatest joys of living in Paignton is that it is quite easy to get around with the magnificent white sand beaches. It is a highly accessible resort no matter where you are in Devon and beyond.
Axminster is quiet, but with a Tesco and a railway station among other things. The surrounding villages are generally pretty and good places to live with a variety of long term residents and newbies. I lived in Tytherleigh as a boy, and went to school in Rousdon but now live just outside Bridport.
Well-sheltered, with a splendid outlook over Torbay, Brixham is friendly with a strong community spirit altogether a great place to live. The beaches at Shoalstone and the Breakwater, plus the coves at Fishcombe Churston and Elberry, are all part of the town, as are the villages of Churston and Galmpton.
In 2018, Paignton was named as the safest place to live in the UK. For every 1000 home burglary insurance claims filed, Paignton and the surrounding areas accounted for a mere 0.78 of them.
Sidmouth is one of the top places in the country to live, according to The Times newspaper. Experts at Bricks & Mortar, a Times supplement, described the town as a handsome Regency seaside with much to offer, including quality restaurants, independent shops and the sailing club.
