While the 3600 is considered as the budget CPU for 4k, you need to pair it with a bare minimum GPU of on RTX 2080 Super. This GPU, is budget 4k gaming experience.
The 3600X is the quintessential gaming CPU. It has great performance at a price that makes a ton of sense. It has six fast cores that enable it to keep up with any game you throw at it. And then it's great for any productivity workloads you end up needing it for as well.

I have the 3700x and i expect it's lifespan to be 5 years, because of the 1.5V that is going into the cpu constantly. BUT most of the times 7 of the 8 cores are completely shut off, conserving their lifespan. Also under load it is normal 1.3V. So it is hard to say how long it will last exactly.
Nothing is ever completely future-proof, and because different people use their PC for different things, what is “future-proof” for one person might not be future proof for another, but a Ryzen 7 4800H is significantly more future-proof than the majority of laptop CPUs.

A low supply and a high demand for a product will increase the price. The same goes for other components such as power supplies and motherboards. You would think that there might be a high supply of Ryzen 5 3600 with so many people being unemployed and not having the money to buy computer parts right now.
