An electric kitchen appliance used to cook rice. It prepares the rice automatically, knowing when the rice reaches the proper temperature, it will switch from a cooking mode to a warming mode.
3.Heat Rice in the Oven
- Preheat the oven to 300°F. Spread rice in an even layer over the baking dish, gently breaking up any clumps.
- Splash with about 2 Tbsp water or broth per cup of rice. Use foil to cover the dish tightly.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until heated through.

It helps your rice to cook up into separate grains. While you're at it, it also adds some flavor to the rice, by caramelizing some of the starches. Plus, it adds oil, which can carry flavors of its own and help distribute fat-soluble flavors in the other ingredients.
Rice pilaf traditionally calls to brown or toast rice in cooking fat prior to adding the water or broth. Toasting the rice until it browns ever so slightly gives it an incredible rich and nutty flavor. And bonus, when you add the cooking liquid in, it comes to a boil more quickly because the rice is already hot.
I pretty much always rinse rice before cooking it, but I definitely enjoy what toasting rice does to its flavor.
"NEVER stir your rice! Stirring activates starch and will make your rice gloppy. If you cook rice too quickly, the water will evaporate and the rice will be undercooked. Low heat keeps kernels intact."
Rinsing the rice removes any debris, and most importantly, it removes the surface starch that otherwise causes the rice to clump together or get gummy as it cooks. And while you should be rinsing rice thoroughly, you don't need to worry about keeping at it until the water runs clear.

Method
- Heat the vegetable and sesame oil in a wok or large frying pan until it very hot. Add the garlic and ginger and cook briefly, stirring all the time.
- Add the chilled rice.
- Beat the eggs together and add to the pan.
- Add the peas, ham and chicken to the wok and warm through.
- Put the fried rice in a bowl and serve.

How much rice per person? We recommend allowing 50-75g of uncooked rice per serving. This equates to 50-75ml per person if using a measuring jug which is often quicker than weighing it. Any leftover rice should be chilled quickly and can be stored in the fridge for two days or frozen for one month.
Put the Dutch oven into a preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 15 minutes. Let the rice stand for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.

How To Fix Mushy Rice
- Let the rice finish cooking.
- Open the lid of the cooker right when the rice is done.
- Remove the cooker from the heat source, leaving the rice uncovered.
- Place a clean, dry towel on top of the cooker.
- Place the lid back on top of the towel, creating a tight seal against the air.
Solution: Add just enough water to create a little steam, 1/4 cup or less. Put the lid on and cook the rice on very low heat for another 5 minutes. Problem: The rice is cooked but too wet. Solution: Uncover the pot and cook over low heat to evaporate the water.
