Galen Gering is the latest regular to depart the long-running series, announcing on Instagram that today was his final on the set. He will still be seen on the show through the fall, though, as the series tapes way in advance and has months of episodes featuring Gering yet to run.
In August 2013, it was reported Massey had left Days, and the show had recast due to the character's current storyline "and the timely discovery of new talent"; and in September 2013, it came out that Guy Wilson was cast in the role of Will. Due to Days' unusual taping schedule — the soap shoots six months in advance — Sonny and Will will remain onscreen until September, Smith confirms. “Though its sad and shocking, I want to celebrate what we've created,” the actor told fans.
