The Ninth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the BBC science fiction television programme Doctor Who. He is portrayed by Christopher Eccleston during the first series of the show's revival in 2005.

After a great many adventures away from the screen, the Eighth Doctor was last seen trying to avoid fighting in the Time War. He was killed in a spaceship crash on Karn, and temporarily revived by its Sisterhood, who begged him to save reality by offering him a choice of regenerative elixirs.
Dr Patrick Turner, played by Stephen McGann is a GP who works closely with the midwives of Nonnatus House in Call the Midwife. He has been a cast member since the first season in 2012.
