Our Starter package includes: Local stations such as City, CTV and Global. Public interest channels such as Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) and AMI TV. U.S. border stations such as NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and PBS.

The Skinny: Rogers calls its skinny basic cable package the “Starter” package. It costs $24.99 for 35 basic channels, but doesn't include the cost to rent a digital box. That costs an additional $12.95 per month, which brings the total for a skinny package to $37.94 per month.
Basic service typically includes 30 to 40 channels including local network channels, as well as popular channels like ESPN, MTV, Discovery and AMC, among others. It costs anywhere from $10 to $25 a month. Standard digital cable, the next step up, can carry up to 100 channels.

Why prices rise
Cable companies point to rising fees they pay to carry TV networks. But the networks also know they can pass those costs back to cable companies and ultimately their subscribers. It's industry convention that a cable bundle needs live sports. Most cable plans average out between $55 to $60 a month, give or take.
