Optik TV requires a Telus internet connection.
Telus will no longer sell satellite TV to new customers, but will continue to fully support existing satellite customers, the carrier has confirmed. The change affects customers in Alberta and British Columbia, where the carrier also offers Optik TV and Pik TV services across its home internet footprint.
Get set up. If you are an existing Optik TV and Internet customer and do not have a 4K digital box to access YouTube, you need to upgrade your digital box. Please contact us at telus.com/contact to speak to a TELUS representative. To learn about the benefits of upgrading, please visit telus.com/4K.
So why would a Telus Optik TV subscriber order a bell remote instead of another Telus slimline remote? This model uses Bluetooth instead of IR signal to control the TV box. Just press the Bluetooth pairing button on the back of your box.
The Optik wireless digital box works the same way as the wired Optik digital box, but instead receives the TV signal over the air from a wireless access point up to 60 meters away, eliminating the need for a physical connection between the digital box and the TV outlet.
The Wireless TV Box communicates wirelessly with the Xfinity Wireless Gateway, but does require a power cord plugged into an outlet and an HDMI connection to the TV.
It is important to reboot the equipment in a specific order.
- Restart your modem.
- Once it is back online, find your PVR.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the box.
- Wait 2 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord to the back of your digital box.
- The digital box will be ready when both the Link and Power lights are on.
To connect a PVR to TV, you need to connect the input signal (antenna or cable), the video and the audio. The video and audio is best and simplest connected with a HDMI lead. If that is not available, then use component video (3 channels) and audio (2 channels).
A personal video recorder (PVR) is an interactive TV recording device, in essence a sophisticated set-top box with recording capability (although it is not necessarily kept on top of the television set). Like a VCR, a PVR has the ability to pause, rewind, stop, or fast-forward a recorded program.
Telus Optik TV is a product of Telus Communications, a subsidiary of Telus Corporation, that provides IPTV service in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec. The service offers over 630 digital channels, including more than 100 in HD.
A PVR stands for Personal Video Recorder, sometimes also called the DVR Digital Video Recorder. In essence, it's a sophisticated set-top box with recording capability as well as pause, rewind, stop, or fast-forward a recorded program.
For Android devices, please visit Google Play Store on your mobile device to download the Optik TV mobile App: You can access the Optik TV App through your web browser on your MAC or PC at watchoptik.telus.com. You may access on your mobile browser as well and use the guide or recording functionalities.
Step 1 - Plug in the Wi-Fi dongle into the front USB part of your PVR decoder. Step 2 - A prompt will appear stating "Do you wish to connect to a wireless network?", select "Yes, continue." Step 3 - Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon will appear on the screen.
The TELUS PureFibre infrastructure is attached to existing utility poles. The TELUS construction team visits your home to install a connection point (small grey box) to your house where we have obtained your permission to do so. The team feeds the fibre from the utility pole to your house.
Ensure the switch on the back of the WAP is switched to 'AP'. If the problem persists, reboot your WAP and modem by unplugging the power source for 10 seconds. Allow for 2 minutes for TV to be restored. Note: If the problem persists, reboot your wireless digital box.
