Olympic Pool. To get there, take the train to Heathcote Station (or drive and park there). Cross the tracks so that you're on the east side (left side of the train, if you're coming down from Sydney), exit through the commuter parking lot, pass the fire station, and find the trail just south from there.
What is the postcode of North Sydney?
The slight shortening for new Olympic measurements in 1964 wouldn't have bothered me too much. But what a shame the high diving board (which appears on many of the posters in the history gallery) was removed in 1970, and even more of a shame that the deep end was brought from over 5m to its present day 3.8m in 1980.
Swimming doesn't preferentially burn belly fat, but if it's something that you'll do consistently because you enjoy it, then it will help you drop pounds all over, including you're your belly.
If you want to get in a good swim workout in about 30 minutes, you should be swimming at least 20 to 30 laps as a beginner, roughly 40 to 50 laps as an intermediate swimmer, and about 60 laps or more as an advanced swimmer.
Since the Beijing games, all the Olympic pools have been 3 meters deep, the recommended Olympic depth set by swimming's world governing body. By accident or by design, it's deep enough that the waves the swimmers generate don't rebound off the bottom, so the water at the surface stays calmer.
Olympic-Size Pool CostThe cost of Olympic-size swimming pools is between $300,000 and $500,000. Olympic-size pools conform to very strict measurements. They are exactly 50 meters in length and contain 10 lanes. Each lane measures 2.5 meters in width.
I usually recommend three swim sessions per week to maintain the balance of time and life demands. Athletes competing in long-distance marathon swims or with high-achieving goals in U.S. Masters meets should swim more often.
Lap pools are typically about 40 feet long, but they can reach up to 75 feet. Their width ranges from six to 10 ft. Experts recommend a minimum depth of 3-1/2 feet so swimmers don't scrape their hands or feet on the bottom.
Because springboard and platform diving take place in the same pool, the country hosting the Olympics must abide by FINA's recommended minimum depth for 10-meter platform diving, which is five meters, or 16 feet, deep.
