No, you don't always need an engineer visit. We estimate an engineer is only necessary in 20-25% of installations. If you're switching broadband providers from within the same network, i.e. BT Openreach and have all the connections in place, the switch can happen remotely.
Connect the included Ethernet cable to the modem and wireless router. Connect the other power cable to the router and let it power up. It can take up to 10 minutes for it to get going the first time. When the Wi-Fi status light is solid green, you're ready to connect your devices.

Re: Sky Broadband activation
That activation can happen at anytime up until midnight. When the activation is complete the engineer closes the job and thst triggers Sky to send a text if everything goes as planned as most do but some don't.Unless you are migrating from an existing fibre service, a BT Engineer will visit your local street cabinet to connect your line to the Fibre Optic Broadband service. An engineer does not need to visit your property. We will notify you of the activation date of the service.
