It is used for measuring the static pressure of an HVAC system. The magnehelic has a very sensitive diaphragm that responds to changes in pressure. When pressure is exerted on the diaphragm, the dial of the magnehelic responds accordingly and moves to the appropriate pressure.
Normally closed solenoid valves include a plunger that remains in a closed position when the system is running smoothly, like pressure relief valves. Symptoms of Regulator Failure
If you have a regulator and it fails, you'll notice an immediate reaction in your home. For instance, you'll experience irregular water pressure that is hard to control with your sink, toilet, or bathtub faucets. The pressure is likely too high or too low.Fit a socket wrench over the adjustment nut on the top of the valve. Turn the nut counterclockwise to reduce the pressure downstream from the valve and clockwise to increase it. Have someone watch the meter, if you can't see it yourself, and stop adjusting when the pressure reaches the desired value.
With a slotted screwdriver, turn the screw in the center of the knob clockwise, until flow can be heard escaping from the internal valve. Slowly turn the screw counterclockwise until the flow from the relief valve stops. Turn the screw an additional 1/8 to 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.
In high-pressure gas systems, it is recommended that the outlet of the relief valve is in the open air. In systems where the outlet is connected to piping, the opening of a relief valve will give a pressure build up in the piping system downstream of the relief valve.
