Every paragraph should include a topic sentence that identifies the main idea of the paragraph. A topic sentence also states the point the writer wishes to make about that subject. Generally, the topic sentence appears at the beginning of the paragraph.
1 paragraph is 100 – 200 words for essays, 50 – 100 words for easy writing. 2 paragraphs is 200 – 400 words for essays, 100 – 200 words for easy writing. 3 paragraphs is 300 – 600 words for essays, 150 – 300 words for easy writing. 4 paragraphs is 400 – 800 words for essays, 200 – 400 words for easy writing.
The five-paragraph essay is a format of essay having five paragraphs: one introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs with support and development, and one concluding paragraph. Because of this structure, it is also known as a hamburger essay, one three one, or a three-tier essay.
The First Paragraph: The Introduction
