Dampen a clean sponge with water and squeeze out excess moisture. Sprinkle baking soda onto the damp sponge. Scrub the site of the suction cup mark on the tile and leave the baking soda to sit on the surface for a minutes. Baking soda is a mild abrasive and is safe to use on tile surfaces.
Apply a small amount of white vinegar to the spot of glue as an alternative, natural household solution. You will find just as much success, but it will take longer to see results. Pour a small amount onto a clean cloth and allow the vinegar to soak the glue for 10 to 15 minutes before attempting to wipe it clean.

Petroleum jelly can peel it off.
- Scrape the residue with a spoon.
- Rub the bits with petroleum jelly.
- To get rid of the smeared petroleum jelly, apply few drops of dish soap.
- Rinse with hot water. Make sure the temperature of the water is safe for the fabric.
- Repeat steps 2-4 until it is gone.
One easy method is to use standard cooking oil or oil-based materials. Vegetable or canola oil can work wonders, as can peanut butter or mayonnaise. Spread it on, let it soak into the residue for about an hour, then wipe it away. For a tougher clean, try rubbing alcohol or vodka.
The advantage of using adhesive tape is you don't need to wet it, and the sticky side is good enough. After cleaning the area with rubbing alcohol or vinegar, wipe it dry with a lint-free fabric. Stick the double-sided tape on the windscreen, and put the mount on it.
Insert a flat, dull blade between the foam and the wall. A butter knife, plastic spatula or credit card works well and doesn't damage the wall. Work the blade beneath the foam and gently pry it up from the wall. Remove as much of the foam layer as possible so only the adhesive remains.

“WD-40”: Remove as much of the sticker that you can then spray WD-40 and wait a few minutes before using a damp cloth to wipe the rest away. “Masking tape”: Believe it or not, using more sticky will remove stubborn sticky from a glass object. At least parts of the sticker and/or adhesive should come off with the tape.
Soak a rag or paper towel in vinegar and lay across the sticky area. Let it soak for a few minutes to soften the residue, then wipe or scrape to remove. Plus, you can use vinegar to clean all around the house.
Try WindexIf the fabric softener is not working, spray some windex on the sticky spot and wipe with a paper towel. Hopefully this will soften the adhesive.
How to Clean Road Film on a Windshield
- Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spray it on your windshield.
- Using the same wet crumpled newspaper, or a soft cloth, wipe down the windshield wipers as well.
- Ask your local auto parts dealer to recommend an industrial-strength cleaner if the film remains.
More drastic measures must be taken to remove this strong adhesive.
- Scrape off as much rubber as you can with the razor blade.
- Spray the glass with the cleaner.
- Wipe as usual with a paper towel.
- Repeat until all residue is gone.
