The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Program is administered by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. Palmetto Fellows may receive up to $6,700 their freshman year and up to $7,500 for their sophomore, junior and senior years. Half of the Scholarship is awarded in the fall term and half in the spring term.
After the first year, eligibility may be established for the LIFE Scholarship. The HOPE Scholarship award amount is determined annually by the South Carolina General Assembly. Currently, the maximum value is $2,800 ($2,650 related to tuition plus $150 based on the costs of textbooks).
You must earn a minimum 3.00 LIFE grade point average on a 4.00 scale by the end of the academic year (fall, spring, summer). As a condition of receiving the LIFE Scholarship, all grades earned (excluding remedial coursework) at eligible public or independent institutions are included in the LIFE GPA.
Currently, the LIFE Scholarship award amount at the University of South Carolina is $5,000. In addition to the general eligibility requirements below, please note the requirements for the LIFE Scholarship Enhancement must be completed during your freshman year.

To receive a LIFE Scholarship, an entering freshman must meet two of the three eligibility requirements:
- Score 1100 on the SAT or 24 on the ACT.
- Graduate High School with a 3.0 GPA on the S.C. Uniform Grading Scale.
- Rank in the top 30% of graduating class.
Financial Aid
These funds can include the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, and the refund can be used for any college-related expenses, including off-campus housing.In order to maintain the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Enhancement, Palmetto Fellows must continue to declare an approved major, meet the institution's criteria for satisfactory academic progress in that major and meet all continued eligibility requirements for the underlying Palmetto Fellows Scholarship.
To keep the LIFE Scholarship, students must earn a cumulative 3.0 LIFE grade point average (GPA) and an average of 30 credit hours each academic year.
Scholarships. Students who have excellent high school grades and present competitive scores on the SAT or ACT are considered for merit scholarships awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Carolina and McNair Scholars awards require an additional application.
National Merit scholarship recipients are selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and reported to Clemson University. Scholars could receive one of three scholarships: Freshman Award, Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, or Clemson-sponsored Merit Scholarship.
A minimum composite score of 24 is required for the ACT. A score of 1160 or higher is required if the SAT was taken on or after March 1, 2016 (1720 if test taken before March 1, 2016).

The Lottery Tuition Assistance Program (LTAP) was established under the SC Education Lottery Act in 2001. It was created to provide a supplemental resource to South Carolina residents attending eligible SC two-year public or independent institutions.
