To access Bear Lake, a daily fee (or park's pass) is required. The lake sits about a half-mile from the parking lot at the end of Bear Lake Road, a dazzling little drive. A short, but easy walk is required to reach Bear Lake's shoreline.
Visitors will have access to the area but are not guaranteed parking at a specific lot and should plan to adjust their destination as needed or use the park's shuttle system to access their desired trailhead. Visitor will need to enter both the park and the Bear Lake Road Corridor during their reservation window.
Getting to the Bear Lake TrailheadFrom the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, drive through the National Park entrance station. Turn left onto Bear Lake Road and drive 9 miles to the Bear Lake Trailhead. Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge Trailhead parking lots fill by mid morning during the peak summer season.

Oct 18, 2021 The road around Bear Lake is about 50 miles with not much elevation gain, save for a few rolling hills on the east side and some false flat sections on the west side. Almost all the way around the loop, whether you do it clockwise or counter, you will have nice views of the enticing waters.
