Disney Tourist Blog raved that “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is an excellent, world-class attraction.” Clearly, Rise of the Resistance is worth checking out. If you can deal with a long virtual queue and the fact that it could break down right before you get on it, you should definitely check it out.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a moderately scary ride, but not as scary as Expedition Everest or Tower of Terror. That said, you should be prepared for loud blasts, explosions, and intense battle scenes.
Each day at 1 p.m., the Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass virtual queue is opened again! For access to this go around, all riding guests must be physically present in the parks AND must not have already gotten a pass!
Standby Lines: Even if you are prepared to show up and wait in line for 5 hours for Rise of the Resistance, you can't. There is no standby line running for the attraction while the virtual queue is operational.
A tracked ride usually sends guests down a predetermined path, with each subsequent vehicle following directly behind the first. On a trackless system, vehicles can easily double back through the attraction, swap places with one another, or perform maneuvers that would be impossible on a track.
Rise of the Resistance is both a ride and an attraction. It is in Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios, and the whole experience is just under 20 minutes. There are different parts to this ride that include walking, riding, and a slight drop.
It's Not a Ride; It's an ExperienceThere are no high-speed launches, no inversions, and no massive drops (just a small one!). At its most intense, Rise of the Resistance is a simulator a la Star Tours; and throughout most of the ride time, it's most akin to a dark ride.
Did you miss out on the 7 AM virtual queue enrollment? No worries. The virtual queue will open up again at 1 PM. For this second enrollment of the day, all guests must be inside the park when attempting to join the virtual queue.
Once your virtual queue boarding group is called, you'll have up to two hours to enter Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. To enter, you simply walk up to the Grand Avenue entrance (near MuppetVision 3D). There, you'll find a sea of Cast Members with iPads will scan your MagicBand or linked park ticket.
No, there is no separate fee to enter Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
The DAS Card is designed to accommodate guests who aren't able to wait in a conventional queue environment due to a disability (including non-apparent disabilities). DAS will be issued at Guest Relations main entrance locations and will offer guests a return time for attractions based on the current wait time.
This whole virtual queue system is kind of like putting your name on a waitlist at a restaurant – first come, first served. For Rise of the Resistance, Disney puts people into what they call “boarding groups,” and then they call those groups as the space in the queue allows.
For this reason, I strongly encourage you to do everything you can to not miss your boarding group! You will be given a window of time to make your way over to the attraction and should have plenty of time to get there. The first time my family joined the Resistance on this adventure, we were blown away!
The Join Boarding Group button in the Virtual Queue box on the app home screen is where you want to be to access all the virtual queues. When you tap that button, you'll see Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance appear under Disneyland Park.
You can get a boarding pass through the My Disney Experience App. One person can get a boarding pass for your entire group the app (much like fastpass it will ask for your party) You CAN leave the park once you get your boarding pass. You'll get a push notification when it's your turn.
Even though there's debate on which Disney World theme park is best, there is a general consensus. The best Disney theme park is Magic Kingdom. It's Walt Disney World Resort's first theme park, and it's most nostalgic and Disneyesque. Magic Kingdom's rides and attractions just have more magic than anywhere else.
Your goal should be to arrive to the front gates of Hollywood Studios no later than 90 minutes before park opening. Doing that will maximize your chances of snagging a coveted spot in a Boarding Group to ride Rise of the Resistance AND help you tour the rest of the park with the shortest lines possible.

It's not just a ride, but an almost 30-minute experience that takes you fully into the world of Star Wars in a way unlike any attraction before it. (Photo by Summer Hull/The Points Guy.) The attraction has multiple components and more than one ride vehicle and location.
When it's time to enter, you have up to two hours from your boarding time to gain entry into the land and you can stay until you're ready to return to Earth. Keep an eye on the app though, because you may not have to use it!

Reservations are highly recommended, but not required. A valid credit card number is required to make a reservation. Reservations can be made on the My Disney Experience app or online on the Droid Depot page. Please note: guests will need a theme park reservation for Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The best time of day to visit Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is without a doubt in the morning. This is because guests will be able to ride Millennium Falcon Smugglers run with very little wait times. We recommend getting to the park a half hour before the regular opening time.
It's complicated to understand because it's new and different, but once you experience it in person, it's really not that difficult. Moreover, as we write in our spoiler-free Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Ride Review, this is one of Walt Disney World's best attractions ever. It's absolutely worth the effort.
All you need to get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass is your smartphone with the My Disney Experience app downloaded, your party's Disney Hollywood Studios ticket reservation connected to your My Disney Experience account, and a lot of patient determination!
Can I get more than one Virtual Boarding Pass in a day? No, this was possible during the first couple of days of operation, but at this time guests are restricted to one Virtual Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance per day.
