To perform a Mercy, you must stand at around mid range from your opponent during the "Finish Him" phase:
- Hold down the Left Trigger Button for Flip Stance, and then press Down three times, before letting go of the Left Trigger.
- In Shorthand - L2 (Hold), D, D, D, (Release)
To make it easier simply spam L2 + DOWN in quick succession to trigger the MERCY. A golden text that says "MERCY" will show up in the middle of the screen and it revives your opponent and gives them some health left.

Defeating an opponent in the previous Mortal Kombat games gave players the option to perform a Fatality to finish them off. In Mortal Kombat 11, however, a new option called Mercy gives the opponent one last chance at winning the match.
A brutality is a long string of hits (10 or 11, don't recall) that will kill the opponent and make him/her explode as a result. A fatality is a finisher that becomes available after you've beaten your opponent. Each character has their own unique "signature" fatalities. Death is my gift.
For example, you may have to hit the opponent a certain number of times with an attack during the match, win the first round of the match with a throw, or hold Forward during the final attack animation. If all requirements are not met, the Brutality will not happen.
Each character has five different listed Brutalities (two universal Brutalities, and three Brutalities exclusive to each Character Variation), with some characters having a sixth or more unlisted Brutality as well, hidden within a character's 3 variations, though some characters had their Hidden Brutality added in
You can only perform an Animality in the 3rd round after giving Mercy to your opponent. This only works on UMK3. To give Mercy hold run and press Down, Down, Down, Down. Then you do your character's Animality.
