Recently, StarCraft 2 adopted a free-to-play model for the base game. Blizzard highlighted the fact that StarCraft 2 doesn't require you to earn the Wings of Liberty campaign. Aside from that, there are no requirements when it comes to unlocking playable characters. There aren't any pay-to-win mechanics either.
While the future of the series is now uncertain, StarCraft 3 is still a possibility. However, it may release under a completely different name. Recently, Blizzard announced it was ending most support for StarCraft 2, which leaves the future of the franchise up in the air.
Starcraft 2 can be played offline, as long as you have logged in at least once. Playing "Play Offline" at this point will allow you to: Play Custom Games vs. the AI.

- Do everything with a sense of urgency, speed wins games.
- Don't needlessly waste units, if you can't win a battle then don't engage.
- Always be scouting.
What you need to do to Fast Castle
- Immediately queue up as many villagers as possible in your Town Center (TC).
- Your scout should be on the move, searching out domesticated animals (like sheep) and wild animals (like boars) near your TC.
- Send two villagers (1, 2) to build one house.
