You can interrupt the calculation in an interactive FLUENT session by using the Cancel button or by typing <CTRL-C> in the FLUENT console window. Selecting Interrupt stops the calculation at the next point where data can be safely stored for later use.
You use a Remote Point as a scoping mechanism for remote boundary conditions. Remote points are a way of abstracting a connection to a solid model, be it a vertex, edge, face, body, or node, to a point in space (specified by Location).

- Create a table with one column and as many rows as you need.
- Then, fill in the table with the values for time (first column) and displacement (second column).
- Apply the displacement in the direction you need.

It's relatively easy to learn the basics of but hard to master. But getting the basic knowledge is a great first step. I started learning ANSYS in third year once I had a solid foundation in solid mechanics, materials, heat transfer and finite element method.
It is very critical to understand basics concepts of CFD before you start using it for analysis and solution of industrial problem. In long run what will distinguish good CFD engineer from average engineer is his/her understanding about CFD fundamentals. This milestone is considered as one of the tough one to cross.
Performing basic structural calculations and geometry handling: probably few weeks. I'm considering ANSYS Workbench. APDL is slower because GUI is outdated and one needs to know the right commands (help is good but there's just so much to know).
Ansys provides free student software products perfect for work done outside the classroom, such as homework, capstone projects, student competitions and more. Our renewable products can be downloaded by students across the globe. Ansys Student products can be installed on any supported MS Windows 64-bit machine.
ANSYS training course aims to explain the basics of ANSYS, Finite Element Modeling (FEM), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The curve of learning will elevate from various stages, which includes pre-processor, solution, and post-processor.
The ANSYS Workbench platform is the backbone for delivering a comprehensive and integrated simulation system. Using Workbench for your product development simulations will result in higher productivity from integrated applications and access to multiphysics and systems level capabilities.
The Ansys Learning Hub is THE learning platform for the Ansys software portfolio. Learners can choose when to learn and what to learn with easy 24/7 access. Annual Ansys Learning Hub subscriptions are available now.
It is necessary to define the direction and magnitude of gravity for this problem.
- Select Solution > Define Loads > Apply > Structural > Inertia > Gravity
- The following window will appear. Fill it in as shown to define an acceleration of 9.81m/s2 in the y direction.
Gravity loads include "dead", or permanent, load, which is the weight of the structure, including its walls, floors, finishes, and mechanical systems, and "live", or temporary load, which is the weight of a structure's contents and occupants, including the weight of snow.
Gravity loads are body loads available only in Structure. These loads simulate the force of gravity as it affects your model. When you define a gravity load, you specify the gravitational components of the load in each coordinate direction. If you simply enter 386.4, the gravitational force would be upward.
