Although shipping and freight are both used to describe the bulk transportation of goods, freight always refers to a larger quantity of goods while shipping can refer to a smaller amount. Freight denotes commercial purposes.

How Much Does it Cost to Ship Furniture? Shipping furniture locally costs $75 to $250, while the average cost to ship furniture state to state, or across the country ranges from $300 to $600. Naturally, larger pieces of furniture, white glove services, and other factors can increase the cost.

For items weighing 3 pounds or less, it is usually cheaper and faster to ship USPS priority mail than UPS ground. Also if your item is extremely fragile or can be easily crushed, you should ship priority mail.

Freight shipping is the process of transporting commodities, goods and cargo by land, sea or air. Common types of freight shipping over the road include truckload, less than truckload (LTL) and intermodal. Freight itself can be defined as the goods transported by truck, train, ship or plane.
The FedEx Freight®box packaging is included in the flat-rate cost2 and comes in two sizes — a standard size freight box that requires a pallet to ship, and a smaller freight box with an integrated pallet. The freedom to choose your freight box makes freight shipping accessible for businesses, no matter the size.
Postal FreightThe Postal Service moves mail with a combination of Postal Service vehicles and contracted air, rail, truck, and ground services. Even though the daily volume of the mail can be estimated, there must be sufficient excess capacity to meet any variances and to meet service standards.
In flat rate shipping, there is a predetermined delivery time that cannot be altered. Standard shipping is priced based on the regular shipping charges that are calculated based on pincodes and zones. You do not need to follow any specific flat-pricing strategy to ensure that the customers get only one shipping price.
