If you have an original key fob, look at it. If it has a remote start button with a semi-circle with an arrow at the end you should have remote start. My fob looks like this: If you have an OnStar subscription and the OnStar App installed on your smart phone, you should be able to start the vehicle with the App.

The traction control system in your vehicle exists as a driving aid during adverse conditions, such as rain, snow, ice, or poorly maintained roads. When the system is not working, it will illuminate a warning light on the dashboard cluster.
After remotely starting the engine, how long will the engine run before it shuts off? Any vehicle started with the remote engine starter can idle for a total of 20 minutes. Automatic engine shutdown occurs after 10 minutes, but the vehicle may be remotely started as many times as you wish for an additional 10 minutes.
The vehicle access features of myBuick require an active OnStar plan — whether it's the free Basic Plan or one of the paid subscriptions. It also requires the user to download the app, create an OnStar user ID and password, and log into myBuick.
To use the services, all customers have to do is download the OnStar RemoteLink app and sign up for an OnStar username and password. Customers do not have to have an OnStar subscription for the free Key Fob services.
Even if they decline an OnStar subscription, which can run anywhere from $18.95 to $28.95 per month, OnStar will offer these buyers its RemoteLink Key Fob Service. Using the service, customers can lock or unlock doors, activate the vehicle's horn and lights and remotely start their cars via a smart phone or tablet.

It is not necessary to insert an appropriate key to start the ignition. The matchbox size gadget does all the tricks these days. You can easily lock, unlock, or enter your car without inserting the key. Driving the car with the key still in your pocket is trouble-free.
Here's how to remotely start your vehicle:
- Press the lock button to lock all the doors from as far as 325 feet away.
- Press the Remote Start (2X) button twice. Your exterior lights will flash twice, and your vehicle will start. Your key fob may flash green to let you know your vehicle has started.
Blue Link is available on most new Hyundai vehicles. Remote Vehicle Start Remote Vehicle Start is only available for Push Button Start equipped vehicles with an Automatic Transmission or a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Not available on all models.
How to Turn Off a Remote Car Starter
- Press and hold the lock button on your remote while the car is running in auto-start mode.
- Wait until the locks on the car repond by flashing. If they do not respond on the first press, press the button again every couple seconds until they respond.
Any good remote car starter should have some form of valet mode. Look on the back of your remote for the proper buttons to press to enter and exit valet mode (Usually Lock+Trunk). When you press these buttons, the parking lights should flash two times. Press the Start button, and your car should be warm and toasty!
On most push-to-start vehicles, Compustar remote starters use a secure, proprietary technology called KLON* that mimics your vehicle's smart-key signal to start your engine. Thus, when you remote start your push-to-start vehicle, your engine will start as if your smart-key was physically inside of your vehicle!

There are two types of Ford remote starts 09-12'. Easiest way to tell if you have it is to look for the antenna on the windshield. If it is a dark grey with one stubby antenna than you have the Bi-directional system.
